"I begin the creative process by taking inspiration from textures and shapes found in the natural world. I start with a base form by throwing clay on the pottery wheel or hand-building using the pinch, slab, and coil methods. When the base form is at the leather-hard stage, I begin to alter the shape by stretching and pinching the clay. I use a variety of tools to achieve the textures and cutouts on the surface of the vessels.
Each piece is non-representational and one of a kind with the intention to create an indirect connection to the natural world and allow the mind to be creative."
